Christmas in Lexington

Sunday, December 13, 2015

This afternoon I visited (first time ever!) the Lexington County Museum for their Christmas Open House (free event).  Upon arrival, I was given a map because yes this place is a small village.  The buildings were wonderfully preserved and provided a glance into the historical past of this area.  While there are many wonderful houses/buildings to see, my ultimate favorite was the Pigeon House (1858)!  The design of the building, the opening for the birds, and the ceiling were just too cool!  After touring the houses/buildings, there is a museum which holds guns, pottery, carriages, and other very interesting artifacts.  This little village in Lexington County, SC is a place to move to the top of your 'to-see' list for sure!  (I do apologize for the lack of photos...not really sure what happened with that today.)

In other news, it has been suggested that a calendar of upcoming events be included in the blog.  A wonderful suggestion which I will work on (hopefully have that together starting January 2016).  However, the next event I will be attending (actually volunteering at) is the Candlelight Tours & Carriage Rides at Historic Columbia on Friday, December 18th from 6pm-9pm.

Happy Travels,
-A
